Today is a major holiday in Switzerland and the beginning of a four day weekend.

The Castle of Spiez is seen across the small boat harbor. Spiez lies on the South shore of Lake Thun.

We went to the Untours orientation that began at 10:30 AM. At the meeting they explained several group activities available to us during the next two weeks. After the meeting they arranged a nice lunch at a very reasonable price.

Looking down Lauterbrunnen Valley from Trummelbach Falls toward Interlaken. The Staubbach Waterfall is seen on the left. It plunges nearly 1,000 feet.

We took a train from Spiez to Interlaken Ost where we changed to a train headed for Lauterbrunnen. At Lauterbrunnen there is a 1,000 foot waterfall that we were able to walk up behind. That is, between the rock face and the water falling. We did not get wet. Had the wind changed we would have been drenched.

The girls did some light shopping and we arrived back "home" about 7:45 PM.
