Day one of our tour started at 5 PM on June 19, when we met in the lobby of the Aya Sofya Hotel in Istanbul for the Melitour orientation meeting. Afterwards we went by cabs to KumKapi for a fish dinner. Some hungry street cats hung around outside the window of the restaurant, hoping for handouts. Two waiters stood guard, however, and the cats went without.
